How Rise in Demand for CBD Pet Products Can Fuel Market Growth

CBD pet products

For a long time, CBD has been misunderstood among people and even governments across the world. Many people still don’t know the difference between CBD and other marijuana ingredients, such as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). CBD is not psychoactive, and, therefore, doesn’t provide that euphoric state of mind typically associated with marijuana. Fortunately, things are changing slowly, and many people, including pet owners, are now aware of the various potential benefits of CBD. We're going to take a closer look at those benefits and how the increasing demand for CBD pet products will influence the pet sector.

Why is CBD So Beneficial?

First of all, CBD is non-toxic, and that is the most crucial benefit, especially for pets. Secondly, various mental and physical disorders may be helped with CBD, such as anxiety, depression, cognition, pain, and epilepsy. These illnesses can affect both humans and pets, so CBD may be an option worth considering for anyone suffering from these afflictions. All mammals have the same endocannabinoid system, so it is no wonder that pets can benefit from using CBD products the same way we do.

However, it is important to point out that research is still ongoing into the effects of CBD and that CBD is not a cure for any of these conditions.

What Do Pet Owners Say?

More and more pet owners are becoming aware of what CBD can do for their pets in need, and owners who use CBD for themselves may be more likely to administer CBD to their pets. Some owners have reported that their pets started feeling better shortly after using CBD. One owner said that the first time she became familiar with CBD was when her dog was suffering from arthritis. She added that CBD oil may have provided her pet two more years of a comfortable life. We have a similar example in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. The owner states that her dog was suffering from arthritis and anxiety. When she started giving him CBD oil, her dog immediately started feeling better. There are many other examples similar to this one.

With stories like these, it's little wonder why the demand for CBD pet products is continually rising.

Pet Care Market is Rising

The pet care industry is expanding every year, especially in the USA. According to the American Pet Products Association, pet owners spent $72.5 billion on their pets last year. By the end of 2019, estimates put this number around $75 billion. CBD is becoming more readily acceptable today, with recent legislation pushing for regulators to fast-track certain CBD products. The overall state of the CBD market is continually growing, and the trend seems likely to continue.

Companies are Getting into the CBD Pet Market

Now, when pet owners are willing to pay for high-quality CBD pet products, companies are recognizing the potential to make CBD a premium ingredient. Although some companies are waiting to have more explicit legislative conditions, there are a few names, such as Nestle (OTCPK:NSRGF), that are already becoming a part of the industry. In April, Nestle started a line of CBD products under the Garden of Life brand. On top of that, its pet food brand Purina is looking into CBD pet food.

Smaller startups are also finding their way into the market, thanks to hemp CBD being legal in the United States and many other countries. Therefore, it seems likely we will see a massive number of other big and small names entering the CBD market.

As you can see, pet owners are more than happy with the effects of CBD pet products, so this market may just be about to take off.
