Elon Musk smokes cannabis: It's probably not too surprising that when you write about cannabis, you come across some weird and wonderful happenings. Today this has happened.

Elon Musk—the multi-billionaire Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) and SpaceX founder—had a taste of the marijuana experience today, when he joined popular online host, Joe Rogan, on his Californian show.

Toward the end of his two-hour conversation with Rogan, the host pulled out a joint and Musk's intrigue was blatant: "Is that a joint, or is it a cigar?"

Rogan informs him that it is "marijuana inside tobacco," and Musk says he "thinks he has tried it once" before.

Eager to try it again, Musk first asks if it is legal. When Rogan assures him that in California the joint is "totally legal," Musk helps himself to a drag.

California legalized recreational marijuana use at the beginning of 2018.

The Interview

The conversation between the pair then takes quite the turn. Previously, Musk was speaking about his endeavors with Tesla, his giving away flamethrowers, and plans for an electric plane.

But after his puff, the pair queried over what it must be like to be a horse who has to drag a dead horse through the streets in the eras before cars.

"It's a lot of dead horses and you need a horse to move the dead horse," Musk says. "And they probably get pretty freaked out if they have to move a dead horse."

"Do you think they know what's going on?" Rogan asks.

"It's pretty weird – 'why am I dragging this dead horse around, and I'm a horse?" Musk asks as he ponders what it would be like to be a horse.

Public Appearance

This was Musk's first public appearance since abandoning his record £55 billion bid to take Tesla private. The idea caused controversy and angered investors, leading to accusations of investment fraud.

Relax!

I would have thought it good to see someone—who can only handle so much stress—relax every now and then, but apparently, shareholders think differently. Since the show aired, Tesla shares have dropped over 6%.

One can only assume Rogan's joint must have been rather potent.
