Ok. Legal cannabis will be with us across all of Canada in less than 24 hours. To prepare for this momentous occasion, here is a list of highlights from the week in preparation for tomorrow. Here are some do's and don'ts.

Do smoke marijuana while you are camping
Campers will be allowed to smoke legal cannabis at registered campsites in national parks across Canada. On some hiking trails, it will also be allowed.
But common campground areas or playgrounds are a no-go, and six towns and villages within national parks will have their own cannabis rules. So make sure to double check before you light up.

Don't smoke cannabis on or off duty if you are a pilot
Sorry, Westjet and Air Canada pilots. Your bosses will not allow you to smoke cannabis on or off duty. Other staff who are in critical safety roles are also going to be under the zero-tolerance ban. The Toronto Police have a similar ban in place for its force.
The announcement follows a statement from Transport Canada, which says that cannabis use is detrimental to the workers in critical safety roles.

Do head for Newfoundland and Labrador
The province of Newfoundland and Labrador will be the first selling point for legal cannabis in shops. Elsewhere it will only be available to buy online. So if you want to be a part of history and buy it legally in a shop, head to Newfoundland and Labrador.

Don't be complacent crossing the US border
Yes, some states in the US also enjoy legal cannabis in its entirety, but no, that does not mean you should head to the border with wads of weed on your person. The US border has been notoriously strict and will remain to be so. The border is a federal area which follows federal law. And under federal law, marijuana remains highly illegal in the US. You can be arrested at the border for a crime of possession even if you are passing from Canada across to, say, Seattle where cannabis is also legal.
So don't get complacent crossing the US border!

Do buy it in shops in Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia has unveiled its legal cannabis pricing: a gram will cost Nova Scotians anywhere from $6.33 to $10.99 and up.
The Crown corporation is trying to follow the same “pricing strategy, structure and principles” that they use to manage alcohol categories. That's a fair price for good quality, legal, and well-sourced stuff, right?

Don't be scared of your boss!
Coinciding with legal cannabis use in Canada, an American Court has ruled that workers cannot be denied employment for medical cannabis use. This is a step forward for the States, so if you need marijuana for medical purposes—don't be scared of your boss. The courts are beginning to change their old ways.
