Honest Marijuana Company is Creating Nano-Sized Cannabinoids

The Colorado-based Honest Marijuana Company is creating nano-sized cannabinoids to develop a more potent cannabis product that will be absorbed directly by the bloodstream when taken in pill or oil form. This will produce greater effects and more efficient cannabis products that are "bio-available" (active ingredients within a substance that are available for absorption by the body).

The key to all this is water-solubility and understanding the science of cannabis compounds.

As it stands, the only way for the body to receive all of the active ingredients of cannabis is through intravenous drip or injection straight into the bloodstream. Otherwise, when taken in oil, pill or smoking forms as is the more common practice, the body will receive a much smaller percentage of the active ingredients available to the user.

The reason for this is that cannabis is insoluble or a hydrophobic substance. This means that its compounds do not mix, dissolve or blend with water. Most of the human body is made up of water and so this makes the delivery of medical cannabis difficult.

Also, when ingested, most of the compounds within the cannabis, THC and CBD inclusive, are burned off by the consumer's digestive system. When it is smoked, most of the active ingredients are burned off turning to smoke.

In the words of Honest Cannabis Company's financial advisor Serge Chistov:

"If something is 50 bioavailable, it means that out of the 100 mg of active ingredients, 50 will get lost, 50 will get in.”

he continues:

"when a patient smokes cannabis that is 25 percent THC by volume, he or she intends to receive 250 mg of THC, but about 90 percent of that THC is burned off and turns to smoke, leaving only about 20-40 mg of THC that is actually consumed."

Nano-Sized Cannabinoids

This is where Honest Cannabis Company is looking to make a difference with its new technology creating nano-sized cannabinoids. A result which should see the body absorbing a much higher percentage of the cannabis compounds which will lead to smaller, cost-effective and more efficient cannabis medications:

“So, that brought us … to our technology, which allows us … to have less active ingredient that’s packaged and made as such, so it’s more eager to get into your body because it’s made so tiny and small to become more bioavailable"

Products using this nano-technology will create more discreet, inconspicuous and fast-acting medicine which can be taken without leaving any tell-tale signs such as cannabis smoke and smells.

The technology is still being tested and no products are available as of yet. But Honest Marijuana Company is confident that the official results will show consumers responding much quicker to the effects of nano-sized cannabinoids then regular cannabinoids.

Perhaps this is the future of cannabis medication? If the technology is successful, then the product can truly be utilized to its fullest potential. Watch this space!
