OrganiGram Stock Climbs as OGI Breaks Ground in the Edibles Space

Organigram Stock

OrganiGram stock is climbing today after OrganiGram Holdings (TSXV:OGI) announces its entrance into the cannabis edibles market.

Let's dig in as this story develops!

OrganiGram Edibles

This morning, OrganiGram announced it has entered into a partnership with Canada's Smartest Kitchen. Canada's Smartest Kitchen is a leader in food product development.

The partnership between OrganiGram and Canada's Smartest Kitchen will allow OrganiGram to explore the development of edible cannabis products. Specifically, OrganiGram and Canada's Smartest Kitchen will begin by focusing on the chocolate confectionery market—because who doesn't love chocolate, right?

Edibles were not included in the nation-wide recreational legalization in Canada last year, as it was a grey area of regulations that needed more ironing out. However, if all goes according to plan, edibles are expected to be legalized later this year. So, with OrganiGram getting in early on the edibles market, OrganiGram stock may reap the benefits later on.

Ray Gracewood, OrganiGram Chief Commercial Officer, said:

"As the recreational cannabis industry in Canada anticipates the pending legalization of cannabis edibles, we are excited to combine the technology and product trending understanding we now have through our relationship with TGS with the experience of Canada's Smartest Kitchen to develop a signature line of products that delivers the exceptional quality, flavours and forms that adult Canadians are looking for."
