Medical Cannabis Patients in Pennsylvania Will Receive Access to Flower Aug 1st

Pennsylvania will allow vaping dry leaf

On August 1st, patients that hold a medical marijuana card in the state of Pennsylvania will have access to cannabis flower. Smoking medical marijuana will still be illegal in the state, but soon Pennsylvania will allow vaping dry leaf.

August 1st Rush

Co-founder of TerraVida Holistic Centers, Chris Visco, told local Philly news:

"We're expecting 300 to 400 patients at our Abington store the first day. People will likely be in line at 8 a.m. We're hiring an extra security guard and an extra valet parking person. This is a game-changer."

The state's medical marijuana program officially launched in mid-February and patients weren't pleased with the limited selection of expensive cannabis pills, oils, and tinctures. The introduction of 'dry leaf' into the mix will slash prices and also provide a more familiar product for some.

Dispensary owners in the state say that patients should expect to pay between $10 and $24 per gram, depending on the potency and grade of the cannabis.

State lawmakers have requested that the limit per person sold to them is 15 grams in two weeks.

No Touching or Smoking Allowed

The new regulations on the market require the flower to be completely sealed and placed in opaque packaging. Patients won't be able to get picky with their selections.

Many dispensaries will have high definition pictures of the product, as most patients would most likely want to see it and even smell it. Many patients are excited about the new products as these 'suboptimal forms,' they say, aren't as effective as the natural whole plant.

However, smoking the flower is not permitted.

A spokesperson for Terrapin Pennsylvania, Peter Marcus, told High Times:

"Smoking dry leaf is illegal in Pennsylvania. If they're caught smoking the product, their patient card could be rescinded. Understandably, it would be difficult for the state to enforce such a rule, but patients should still be cautious and be aware the law exists. For some consumers, they might find vaping to have a cleaner taste and easier on the throat. It's a great method."
