JTI shakes up Canada’s vape market

With Logic Compact, vaping finally just clicks

TORONTO and VANCOUVERFeb. 7, 2019 /CNW/ - JTI introduces the Logic Compact vape, available as of today in stores across Ontario and British Columbia. Logic Compact is a high-nicotine, closed-tank vape, offering adult smokers the alternative they have been asking for.

"Logic Compact is a game changer," states Charis Chrysochoidis, Reduced Risk Products (RRP) Lead for Canada. "Up until now, vapers in Canada had extremely limited choices. Vapes were clunky, cumbersome or unsatisfying. Logic Compact changes that, giving adult smokers and vapers the experience they are looking for in a simple, sleek and compact device that just clicks."

Logic Compact is a 'closed tank' vape that uses replaceable 1.6ml pre-filled e-liquid pods. The pods come in four intense flavours—tobacco, menthol, fresh berries and tropical—and click seamlessly into the device magnetically, as does the charging cable.

Additionally, Logic Compact pods are formulated to include nicotine salts, which some describe as delivering a more satisfying vaping experience. Up until now, Canadian vapers looking for an e-liquid with nicotine salts have had limited choices. With the launch of Logic Compact, adult smokers in Canada now have an easy to use, high-nicotine vape manufactured by a global leader with deep roots in Canada.

Between 2014 and 2020, the Japan Tobacco Group will have invested approximately US$2 billion globally in developing potentially reduced risk products. JTI's RRP approach is deeply rooted in the company's Japanese heritage. Quality and the constant quest to improve is at the heart of everything JTI does. JTI employs advanced quality assurance procedures and has strict rules about keeping these products out of the hands of young people. Minors should not vape, period. Today's reality is that some adult smokers are looking for alternatives to cigarettes that could be less harmful. Led by innovation and consumer demand, JTI's RRP line is about giving adult smokers more choice.

In a review on the available body of scientific evidence, Public Health England published a report in 2018 confirming the reduced-risk potential of vapes, finding that: "Based on current knowledge, stating that vaping is at least 95% less harmful than smoking remains a good way to communicate the large difference in relative risk unambiguously…."1 In Canada, vape manufacturers are not allowed to make such comparisons, even though Health Canada agrees that "If you are a smoker, vaping is a less harmful option than smoking."2

JTI is already a global leader in vaping with strong presence in major vaping markets, including the US, UK, France and Italy. Worldwide Logic e-cigarettes are currently in 13 countries, which account for around 75% of global e-cigarette value. Logic Compact will be made available across Canada later in 2019.
