Since bottoming in December, hot pot stocks have almost doubled so far this year. This also appears to be the case for pot index funds and ETFs.
The marijuana industry is one of America's booming industries, and many investors are looking to pot ETFs as a way of getting some of the best cannabis stocks in the industry. Today we're going to discuss some of the best pot index funds and ETFs investors can find.
Pot Index Fund 1: ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF
ETFMG is the largest index fund with over $1.2 billion in assets, and it has focused on the pot industry since 2017.
ETFMG Alternative Harvest is 44.5% year to date and has invested in marijuana stocks such as Aurora Cannabis Inc. (NYSE:ACB), GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH), Canopy Growth Corp (NYSE:CGC), and Cronos Group Inc. (NASDAQ:CRON).
Pot Index Fund 2: Horizon Marijuana Life Sciences
Horizon has $1 billion in assets with the same holdings as Alternative Harvest but in a different order. Most of the stocks in this fund are determined by market capitalization, with a focus on the largest market caps in the industry. Its performance year to date is 53.6%.

Pot Index Fund 3: Purpose Marijuana Opportunities Fund
Purpose has $42 million in assets, most of which are Canadian, with an emphasis on growth and valuation factors. Its performance year to date is 58.9%, which is healthy. Cannabis stocks include Organigram Holdings Inc. (OTCQX:OGRMF), Aurora Cannabis Inc., HEXO Corp. (NYSE:HEXO), Green Thumb Industries (OTCQX:GTBIF) and Harvest Health & Recreation (OTCQX:HRVSF).
Pot Index Fund 4: Horizons Emerging Marijuana
This pot index fund concentrates on small cannabis companies, which is desirable if you are after the hottest performance. Its $12 million in assets is quite small, and it has been in operation since February last year. Year to date, the fund is up 38.9%.
Horizons Emerging holds Supreme Cannabis (OTCQX:SPRWF), Harvest Health & Recreation, Aleafia Health Inc. (OTCQX:ALEAF) and Liberty health Sciences (OTCQX:LHSIF).
