Marijuana Today: Connecticut Adds 8 Conditions and Supreme Cannabis Lists on the OTC Exchange

Connecticut adds 8 conditions

Two important marijuana stories today: Connecticut adds 8 conditions to its list of ailments eligible for medical marijuana treatment, and Canada's The Supreme Cannabis Company is now listing on the US's OTC exchange.

Let's have a look!

Connecticut Adds 8 Conditions

In a unanimous vote yesterday, the state legislature's Regulation Review Committee chose to add eight new conditions to Connecticut's medical cannabis treatment list.

The move brings the total number of treatable adult ailments to 30, but minors are still only eligible for marijuana treatment in light of eight conditions.

New Conditions List

The new conditions are as follows:

  • Spasticity, or neuropathic pain associated with fibromyalgia
  • Severe rheumatoid arthritis
  • Postherpetic neuralgia
  • Hydrocephalus with intractable headache
  • Intractable headache syndromes
  • Neuropathic facial pain
  • Muscular dystrophy
  • Osteogenesis imperfecta

Currently, Connecticut has 27,000 patients signed up for the medical marijuana program and the state houses almost 1,000 physicians that can prescribe the medicine. As it stands, marijuana is supplied by four cultivators, selling through nine dispensaries but this number is expected to increase over the coming months.

The Supreme Cannabis Company

And closer to home, Canadian company The Supreme Cannabis Company (TSXV:FIRE) (OTC:SPRWF) has been added to the OTC exchange in the US and begins listing today!

The company has begun trading on OTCQX under the symbol 'SPRWF.' The addition to the OTC market is an upgrade from the companies previous exchange—the Pink market.

According to Jason Paltrowitz, Executive Vice President of Corporate Services at OTC Markets Group:

"Trading on OTCQX will enable Supreme Cannabis to efficiently provide their U.S. investors with current information and greater transparency."

He further explained:

"We are pleased to welcome Supreme Cannabis to our OTCQX Best Market and look forward to supporting the company as it builds long-term shareholder value."

And so far, trading on the OTC has given Supreme Cannabis stock a boost, not only on the US market but on the Canadian Securities Exchange also.
