Aurora Cannabis supplying Alberta

Aurora Cannabis supplying Alberta: Less than one month after the Canadian government legalized cannabis, organizations are on the move and making connections with various licensed producers.

The latest is The Alberta Gaming, Liquor & Cannabis Commission (AGLC). On Thursday, the commission announced that it had selected 13 cannabis producers to work with. Of the 13, Aurora Cannabis made the cut.

On July 5th, the AGLC disclosed that it had completed distribution agreements with 13 licensed cannabis producers.

When the commission first announced that it was looking for producers, 31 companies responded. However, only a handful were the right fit for the province of Alberta.

It isn't surprising that Aurora Cannabis was included on this list. Same goes for companies like WeedMD and Canopy Growth. What is surprising, however, is that only two of the selected companies currently have operations in the province. Those happen to be Aurora Cannabis and Canopy Growth.

That said, the VP and COO of AGLC, Niaz Nejad, said that the commission is dedicated to providing the "Alberta market with access to federally regulated cannabis in a safe and fiscally responsible manner." He then added that the AGLC is "confident that those we are working with will help fulfill our responsibilities."

This statement shows the AGLC took this decision seriously, selecting only the best of the best to meet their goals.
