Rapper Redman Introduces National Cannabis Party, Set to Hold Lawmakers Accountable for Their Cannabis Standing

Rapper Redman Introduces National Cannabis Party

At the recent Cannabis World Congress & Business Exposition (CWCB) in New York City, popular rapper Redman introduced the new National Cannabis Party. Redman co-founded the party with Sephida Artis-Mills, who is currently the president of the party. In a report by Green Market Report, Artis-Mills spoke about the party's plans. She said the group is a registered political party that will create legislation and hold politicians accountable for their cannabis standings.

In her words, "We are able to impact policy and legislation…we have a bill on the table right now here in the state of New York."

One of the party's main goals is to bridge the gap between the Democrats and Republicans and make sure that politicians and elected officials do not just jump on the cannabis train but also assist in decriminalizing it. Redman cited Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders (I), who, among others, understands and works for the legalization of cannabis.

Redman also pointed out the fact that everyone knows that the cannabis industry is political and that the liquor and tobacco industry is trying to stall the party's efforts in their plans. He noted that it becomes easier for them to achieve their goal because of the disunity in the cannabis space. He said, "We need to unify to help communities that have been affected by War On Drugs, so my biggest goal is taking it [cannabis] off schedule 1." Redman explained that this could be achieved by placing someone who understands the marijuana industry as the president. He added that the party is already endorsing Se. Cory Booker (D-H.J.)

After pointing out that he was one of the advocates of cannabis in the early 1990s, he reiterated the medicinal importance of cannabis, underlining how it can help children suffering from seizures.

Redman concluded, "The cannabis plant has over 400 components that haven't even been discovered yet, so we might not even see it in our lifetime or even in our kid's lifetime how much this plant can heal people."
